Clerical Officer - Endoscopy

This busy specialty is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated person who can provide excellent administrative support for the smooth running of the Endoscopy booking office.
The Endoscopy Clerical Officer will have responsibility for administrative duties within the endoscopy booking office and reception area. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring an optimum level of efficient clerical support to the department in a timely and accurate manner.
Main duties
* Organise and manage patient appointments for the Endoscopy department.
* Work with doctors, nurses and patients to make sure bookings are made correctly and on time.
* Use computer systems daily to keep patient records up to date and help plan appointment lists.
* Answer phone calls, help patients face‑to‑face, and solve problems when they arise.
* Work well with others, follow rules, and be flexible with working hours.
* May help train new staff and support other tasks to keep the department running smoothly.
Qualifications
* 4 GCSEs (Grades 9‑4) or equivalent including Maths and English.
* Working towards an NVQ in Business Administration or Customer Services.
Experience
* Experience of customer care.
* Experience of general office processes.
* Knowledge of software programs.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and other IT skills acquired through training and practical experience.
* Knowledge of PAS systems.
* Experience of NHS working practices.
* Previous office experience.
* Extensive experience of electronic scheduling.
* SEMA Helix/Care Flow experience.
Skills and knowledge
* High standard of grammar and spelling.
* Understanding of confidentiality/data protection issues.
