Overview
Everest People Solutions are recruiting for a Technical Manager who will oversee the maintenance of the Quality Management System and HACCP, ensuring compliance with legal and customer standards through robust systems to safeguard food safety, quality, integrity, and prioritise animal welfare. Additionally, the Technical Manager will analyse and advise on the quality management system's performance, generating data reports comparing against predefined benchmarks. This role involves spearheading improvement initiatives aligned with the company's long-term strategy, fostering a sustainable work environment for the team. The Technical Manager will serve as the primary authority on Food Safety, Quality, Bird Welfare, and Hygiene matters, Preparing and leading all Technical audits on-site.
Key Duties & Responsibilities for the Technical Manager
* Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) and HACCP/TACCP/VACCP compliance.
* Ensure site standards are audit-ready consistently.
* Manage departmental objectives and corrective actions to uphold integrity and standards.
* Collaborate with high-profile customers to promote best practices.
* Proactively address technical demands as the site expands.
* Monitor compliance and performance against quality policies and Technical KPIs.
* Manage customer visits, complaints, and specification database maintenance.
* Conduct regular technical performance reviews and implement improvement initiatives.
* Lead H&S visits/audits and represent the company in insurance claims.
* Ensure understanding and enforcement of food safety, legality, and integrity standards.
* Drive quality and food safety culture among supervisory staff.
* Maintain personal hygiene standards within the team.
* Develop, train, and motivate the team in collaboration with HR.
* Monitor attendance and performance, providing regular feedback and identifying training needs.
* Review and maintain skill levels to meet business requirements.
* Foster a team-oriented culture and uphold company values.
* Promote employee engagement and improve communication within and between departments.
* Adhere to H&S legislation, promote safety culture, and report incidents.
* Ensure provision and proper usage of protective equipment.
* Drive H&S initiatives to exceed targets and manage related issues.
* Utilise continuous improvement techniques to enhance operational excellence.
* Optimise energy usage and minimise environmental impact within the department.
* Maintain Bird Welfare standards and liaise with regulatory authorities.
* Fulfill any reasonable duties requested within the role.
Requirements for the Technical Manager
Essential:
* Previous team management experience in FMCG Technical Department.
* Comprehensive knowledge of food safety legislation.
* Advanced proficiency in Food Safety and HACCP at Level 4.
* Thorough understanding of BRC and retail customer expectations.
* Demonstrated success in driving improvements.
* Strong influencing and customer-facing skills.
* Exceptional organisational abilities for managing multiple projects.
* Experience in chilled environments.
* Ability to lead continuous improvement efforts effectively.
* Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders.
* Self-motivated and commercially aware.
* Possession of a full UK/EU driving license and willingness to travel.
