Overview
R&D Tax – Technology / Software Consultant role at EY. As part of EY’s Global Grants Credits & Incentives team, you will work with a range of clients from owner managed businesses to multinational groups on identifying and quantifying R&D tax relief opportunities.
Based in our central London office, you will collaborate with STEM professionals as well as tax and accounting colleagues to support clients across different industries.
Your Responsibilities
* Work as an effective member of a project team, exhibiting strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues of different skill sets.
* Write compelling technical project reports to highlight the key technical factors of client projects to support R&D tax claims.
* Interact with clients' senior technical, development and engineering staff to understand projects and identify how aspects meet the R&D Guidelines.
* Undertake data analysis and calculations to quantify project expenditure.
* Apply advanced problem-solving and critical thinking to project execution and delivery.
* Build and maintain relationships with clients to provide high levels of service.
* Deliver high-quality advice and solutions to major clients, while managing risk and reputation.
* Adapt knowledge to different sectors and build core capabilities for continued growth.
Skills & Attributes for Success
* A strong interest in science, technology and engineering problems, particularly in software technologies and programming languages.
* Experience working on software projects and understanding technology limitations.
* Ability to quickly learn and discuss new software technologies and concepts with strong business acumen.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to convey information concisely.
* Attention to detail and first-time accuracy.
* Interest in project and company finances and the application of tax treatment.
To qualify for the role, you must have
* Degree qualified in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or related fields.
* 1+ year Computer Science / Software development experience, either at graduate level or in industry.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a collaborative approach.
* Flexibility to continuously learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
* Previous R&D tax experience is not necessary but is advantageous.
