About The Role
As Shift QA Team Leader, you will work closely with the QA Manager to manage the QA team and drive product quality, food safety standards and compliance across site.
Duties:
1. Management and leadership of the shift QA Team, raising issues on behalf of the QA’s to the site QAM and Technical Team Management.
2. Organizing the day-to-day workload of the shift QA team, including consistent shift cover and managing the QA shift rota, to include holiday and overtime cover.
3. Maintaining and improving quality standards through the shift QA team. Active involvement in training of the shift QA’s to understand product attributes and compliance to customer, legal and BRCGS requirements.
4. Initiation of investigation work relation to non-conformance identified during the production and packing process, including customer complaints, in conjunction with the technical and production teams.
5. Ensuring the all-shift QA activities are in line with DWB and site quality management systems and all procedures therein to ensure that the quality management system complies with customer and BRCGS requirements.
6. Ensuring all procedures in the QMS are adhered to especially with respect to identified Critical Control Points.
7. Ensuring document control procedures are observed for all factory and QA documents including forms, recipes, specifications and labels.
8. Ensuring microbiological / chemical testing and swabbing regimes are adhered to and food safety issues are identified, raised and addressed.
9. Assist with monitoring of raw material suppliers and materials, raising and addressing any non-conformance.
10. Directing and driving through the shift QA and wider QA team, ensuring good manufacturing practices, food safety, quality and health and safety procedures are always maintained.
11. Ensuring NPD/EPD trials are actively attended by a member of the shift QA Team.
12. Manage/Review KPI data and work directly with the Technical Team to improve and implement changes as required.
13. Participate in customer / 3rd party audits and drive importance of continuous improvement of audit results directly and through the shift QA team.
14. Deputy to the QA Manager.
Responsibilities & Requirements
15. Team management experience within chilled food manufacturing
16. Degree, or equivalent, in Food Science or similar is desirable
17. HACCP trained
18. Excellent verbal/written communication and numeracy skills
19. Flexible and positive attitude to work
20. Strong team building, decision making and people management
21. Good Manual dexterity
22. Approachable/Impartial/Enthusiastic
23. An understanding of fundamental quality and compliance management systems
24. Quality assurance: 1 years (preferred)
25. Ability to work under pressure and priorities workload efficiently
26. Ability to use own initiative
