The Youth Justice Service is looking for a qualified Social Worker able to work within a multi-disciplined environment to prevent the offending of young people aged 10-18 years old.
The role is attached to Children's Social Care but permanently placed within the team to provide the key values and perspective of the social work ethos when working in the youth justice field and to promote the safety and wellbeing of the child, family and victims alike. The successful candidate will be based at Moor Lane Youth Centre with the YJS Team, and there is also a flexible home working process in place.
The candidate will be able to demonstrate high quality practice in assessment and planning as well as evidence of building effective relationships with complex families and children in pressured environments.
Key experience, knowledge and skills include formal report writing and court presentation skills and experience, and an ability to interpret and apply various legislation including the interface between Youth Justice and Social Care legislation.
The post will require a reflective practitioner who can help lead the way in delivering creative interventions for young people as well as help develop peer support and challenge arrangements within the team to support continual improvement practices.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
