Overview
We are currently seeking a Technician in Catering and Hospitality to join our Hospitality department at The Bedford College Group. As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
Responsibilities
* Kitchen Maintenance & Hygiene – Ensure all kitchen areas, equipment, and appliances are cleaned and sanitised to industry standards, following scheduled routines and COSHH regulations.
* Health & Safety Compliance – Conduct safety checks, support risk assessments, and maintain essential safety equipment and signage, with a willingness to gain First Aid certification.
* Food Safety & Stock Management – Manage deliveries, monitor storage conditions, rotate stock, and maintain records in line with HACCP and food hygiene standards.
* Curriculum & Commercial Support – Assist teaching staff and students during practical sessions, prepare resources, supervise the training restaurant, and support college events.
* Operational & Team Duties – Maintain inventory, liaise with suppliers, manage bookings, and collaborate with staff to support the smooth running of catering and hospitality services.
About You
* Food Safety Certification – Level 2 Food Safety Certificate required, or willingness to obtain.
* Industry Experience – Prior experience working in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
* Regulatory Knowledge – Understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
* Teamwork & Independence – Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Organisation & Detail – Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
