Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Farnham STW.
You will work in a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This is a frontline role performing operations, testing, routine checks, maintenance and problem solving to ensure services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards. This will include planned and preventive maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the health, safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water's guidelines.
* Undertake reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms and fault find to identify issues, fix or escalate; conduct planned maintenance daily and install new plant and equipment in line with current Standards and Regulations.
* Record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify potential risks and recommend changes, raising issues for resolution as required.
* Provide specialist technical advice with up-to-date knowledge, and coach/train staff, including the apprenticeship programme.
* Deliver excellent customer experience and contribute to overall customer satisfaction; interact with internal and external customers in a timely, professional and respectful manner.
Qualifications
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical & electrical systems or NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical & electrical engineering.
* A problem solver able to identify issues and implement solutions, or escalate as required.
* Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
* Resilient, adaptable to changing work environments and pressures.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision and by own initiative to design to required standards.
* Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Team player who can work across different teams, provide helpful feedback and support the development of others.
* Full UK driving licence.
Working pattern
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:30–15:36. Includes standby rota payments and overtime opportunities which can increase earning potential.

Base location: Farnham STW, Monkton Lane, GU9 9ND.

* Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
