Quest Waste Management is experiencing an exciting period of growth and expansion and is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to help drive the business forward and support the delivery of a growing portfolio of drainage and waste management contracts.
This is a pivotal senior role, responsible for driving business growth, protecting margins, and ensuring strong commercial performance across all contracts and projects. Operating within a fast-paced, operationally focused environment, the Commercial Manager will oversee the full commercial lifecycle — from bid and tender stage through to contract delivery and final account.
Working closely with senior leadership, operations, and finance teams, you will provide strategic commercial insight, lead negotiations, develop high-value client relationships, and mentor a commercial team to deliver sustainable and profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement commercial and sales strategies to achieve revenue growth, profitability, and long-term business objectives
* Proactively identify, target, and secure new commercial and industrial clients, converting opportunities into long-term contracts
* Build, manage, and report on a strong sales pipeline, delivering against growth and revenue targets
* Prepare, present, and negotiate bids, tenders, proposals, and commercial agreements, including large frameworks
* Oversee the full commercial lifecycle of contracts, from tender stage through delivery to final account
* Monitor financial performance, margins, cost control, and commercial risk across all projects and contracts
* Lead negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners to secure competitive commercial terms
* Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers
* Collaborate with operational and finance teams to forecast revenue, manage budgets, identify risks, and ensure successful project delivery
* Ensure contracts are compliant with company policies, legal requirements, and best commercial practice
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to identify opportunities for growth and innovation
* Represent QWM Group at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities to raise brand profile
* Provide regular reporting on commercial performance, pipeline activity, KPIs, and forecasts
* Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team to enhance capability, performance, and accountability
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a commercial management, business development, or contract management role
* Strong track record of winning new business, managing large commercial tenders, and negotiating contracts
* Experience within commercial, industrial, utilities, facilities, or related sectors is highly desirable
* Excellent financial acumen, with strong understanding of margins, cost control, and commercial risk
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
* Strategic and analytical thinker with a proactive, results-driven approach
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
* Proficient in CRM systems, commercial reporting, analytics, and presentations
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline
* Master’s degree or professional commercial qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
