Estimator (Construction) – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Estimator (Construction) in Luton to join a growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of tendering and pricing activity while supporting a range of exciting construction projects.
Location: Luton
Salary: £60, to £80, per year + negotiable depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects.
2. Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documents carefully.
3. Attend pre-tender and project meetings to understand scope, timelines, and requirements.
4. Liaise with project managers, surveyors, architects, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
5. Source and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure value and competitiveness.
6. Identify project risks, cost pressures, and potential savings opportunities.
7. Build and maintain pricing databases for labour, materials, and subcontract packages.
8. Use estimating software to create clear reports and tender submissions.
9. Ensure all estimates comply with current regulations, standards, and company procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction sector.
11. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing structures.
12. Good knowledge of contracts, tendering, and industry regulations.
13. Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.
14. Confident using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
15. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
16. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders at once.
17. Membership of a professional body such as RICS is helpful but not essential.
