Director of Transport and Infrastructure
Salary: £100,993 – £119,532
Location: Crewe / Macclesfield (hybrid, with borough-wide travel)

As Director of Transport and Infrastructure, you will lead the council’s highways, transport and infrastructure services, ensuring the delivery of major capital programmes while maintaining safe, efficient and resilient networks for residents and businesses.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of major capital programmes across highways, transport and infrastructure services.
* Ensure safe, efficient and resilient networks for residents and businesses.
* Own a complex portfolio that includes the Local Transport Plan, major infrastructure schemes, and contract management of the highways service.
* Oversee critical regeneration projects such as Crewe Station and wider rail connectivity.
* Work across organisational and geographic boundaries to bring pace, grip and clarity to delivery.
* Translate investment into tangible outcomes.
Qualifications
* Transport / infrastructure professional with a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure and transport programmes within large, politically sensitive organisations.
* Significant experience across highways, transport or infrastructure services.
* Ability to manage major contracts, capital programmes and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
* Confident, credible leader with political awareness, resilience and judgement required to operate effectively within a No Overall Control environment.
* Strong partnership skills and ability to work collaboratively with Government, regional bodies and external stakeholders to secure investment and drive delivery.
* Commitment to turning strategy into delivery and delivering meaningful change at scale.
