SQA Engineer Location: RML Group, Wellingborough Department: Procurement Job Type: Full time Contract Type : Permanent About the Role We are seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Procurement team. In this role, you will collaborate with Inspection, Purchasing, Engineering, and our supply base to resolve supplier manufacturing and quality issues. You will monitor and ensure that supplier parts meet agreed quality standards, including APQP and PPAP, before shipment to customers and manufacturing assembly. Key Responsibilities Supplier Selection & Development: Evaluate potential suppliers and ensure they meet quality and performance standards. APQP & PPAP Leadership: Establish and lead internal processes, supporting suppliers through Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Quality Systems: Ensure suppliers implement robust quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949). Monitoring & Auditing: Conduct regular supplier audits to verify compliance with standards. Problem Solving: Investigate issues, implement corrective actions, and verify effectiveness using structured methods (e.g., 8D). Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and quality enhancements with suppliers. Collaboration: Build strong communication channels with suppliers, engineering, purchasing, and management teams. Travel: Visit supplier sites domestically and internationally for audits, issue resolution, and relationship building. Qualifications & Experience Degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing) or equivalent experience. Proven background in Supplier Quality Assurance within the automotive sector. Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA. Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and supplier quality systems. Skilled in 8D problem-solving and data analysis. Excellent communication, teamwork, and influencing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP or similar systems advantageous. Familiarity with key automotive manufacturing processes (casting, machining, molding, assembly). Skills & Attributes Tenacious can do attitude with persuasive stakeholder management.
