Job overview

Band 6 - Pre transplant work-up & education - 30 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified nurse with renal experience to join our rapidly growing renal specialist team.

The role is varied & involves working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide the highest quality innovative care.

The post holder will be responsible for leading a consistent and integrated approach to patient care. The ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team with excellent communication, organisational, prioritising & time management skills is essential.


Main duties of the job

You must be flexible in your approach to work; this includes occasionally travelling between hospital sites and visiting patients at home. Access to a car and possession of a clean driving license is essential to the post. You will need to be able to work flexible hours to ensure the requirements of the service are covered.

While having the ability to learn and develop quickly the successful candidates will be supported to develop the necessary skills within the role .

Education, Qualifications & Training


Essential criteria

* Registered Nurse
* Relevant Speciality course
* Teaching / assessor qualification
* Educated to degree level.


Knowledge & Experience


Essential criteria

* Previous experience within the speciality.
* Experience at senior staff nurse level.
* Ability to demonstrate up to date experience and depth of knowledge and clinical competence.


Desirable criteria

* An awareness of Trust Policies including renal NSF, clinical governance, data protection etc.
* Demonstrate ability and experience in change management/ clinical developments.


Skills & Abilities


Essential criteria

* Recent experience within acute Renal setting and competent with dialysis skills.
* IT skills
* Ability to act on own initiative with evidence of sound decision making abilities.
* Able to demonstrate team management skills with an understanding of the leadership role
* Clean driving licence


Desirable criteria

* Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
* Able to demonstrate an active role in teaching.
