Role: Adult Social Care Locum Lawyer Location: Rochdale (Hybrid - 1-2 days office / remainder remote) Rate: £60 - £65 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: 27th April 2026 - End of September 2026 (likely extension) The Opportunity CRA Consulting is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established Local Authority in Rochdale to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Locum Lawyer. This role has been created to provide additional support within a busy and high-performing legal team, dealing with a varied caseload of adult social care matters. Drawing from the structure of a senior Adult Social Care legal function, the team delivers high-quality, value-driven legal services aligned to the Council's wider objectives and statutory duties. You'll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking legal service where flexibility, autonomy and quality of work are genuinely prioritised. What you'll be doing You will manage a broad and engaging Adult Social Care caseload, including: Advising on all aspects of Adult Social Care law, including safeguarding and statutory responsibilities Handling matters under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated legislation Managing and progressing Court of Protection applications and proceedings Providing clear, pragmatic legal advice to social workers and internal departments Drafting legal documents, reports and court applications Supporting the Council in managing risk and ensuring legal compliance across services Attending hearings and meetings (primarily remote, with occasional office attendance) What they're looking for Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with full practising rights Proven experience in Adult Social Care law, ideally within a Local Authority setting Strong working knowledge of key legislation and public sector processes Experience of Court of Protection work is highly desirable Ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with non-legal stakeholders Available to start from late April and commit through to September What's on Offer Competitive rate of £60 - £65 per hour (Umbrella) Hybrid working - only 1-2 days per week required in the office Supportive and well-structured legal team Varied, meaningful and high-impact caseload Strong likelihood of contract extension beyond September Opportunity to contribute to an established and respected Local Authority legal service Interested?
