About the Role

Our Power Transmission & Distribution team is shaping some of the most unprecedented and complex projects in the UK energy sector. We’re looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor who is ready to match that ambition.
Building on the legacy of the Viking Link Interconnector, our HVDC portfolio is growing with Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) starting construction and the successful acquisition of National Grid’s £59 billion High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Framework.
Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial delivery of major power sector projects, ensuring outcomes that are profitable, sustainable, and aligned with client expectations.
* Drive commercial strategy, manage risk, and ensure strong governance across complex contracts.
* Coach and develop your team, raising the standard at every level.
* Build trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners through transparency, integrity, and delivery.
* Provide commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction.
* Support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews.
* Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.
* Report and explain commercial progress to senior project staff.
* Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
* Coordinate buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions.
Qualifications
* Proven track record as a Managing QS (or a Senior QS ready to step up) with significant experience in large‑scale infrastructure, energy, or power projects.
* Full suite of professional QS skills and qualifications, and the ability to apply them in high‑pressure environments.
* Experience with FIDIC contracts desirable.
* Results‑driven mindset, thriving on challenges and making clear decisions.
* Track record of managing and developing a commercial team; Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB, and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff.
