Estates and Investment Assistant
Salary: £40,777 - £41,771
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Carlisle or Workington
Contract: Permanent
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Estates and Investment Assistant to join our property team and support the effective management of the Council’s diverse property portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our estate is fit for purpose, supports essential service delivery, and contributes to our wider financial and strategic objectives across Cumbria’s communities. Working as part of a busy professional team, you will assist with day-to-day property management, data handling, inspections, estate enquiries, and the administration of key estates processes. You will also support major programmes including property rationalisation, income generation projects, and statutory valuation requirements.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the daily management of the Council’s estate, including liaising with tenants, responding to property-related enquiries, organising repairs, and conducting property viewings for sales and disposals.
* Carrying out and accurately documenting inspections of unoccupied or surplus properties.
* Supporting the team to maintain and update estate case records.
* Uploading, monitoring, and reviewing key property information on Concerto, the Council’s property database (e.g., lease details, ownership information).
* Providing property data and reports to Estates colleagues and wider Council departments.
* Assisting with the correct identification, calculation, and charging of service charges, rent, business rates, and other property-related payments.
* Helping to resolve queries relating to the Council’s property portfolio, including more complex issues under the guidance of senior team members.
* Contributing to the Council’s strategic asset management plan and supporting area-based property rationalisation projects, financial delivery plans, and income generation initiatives.
