Job Description
New Directions are seeking a friendly, patient and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism and some challenging behaviour at a partner primary school in Denton.
This position is due to start in ASAP and to continue into the new academic year, with the potential to become a permanent member of staff for the right candidate.
The Role
1. Provide dedicated 1:1 support
2. Support the pupil’s learning, emotional regulation, and engagement in lessons
3. Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
4. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans
5. Help create a structured, safe, and positive learning environment
6. Encourage social interaction and independence where appropriate
The Candidate
7. Has a calm, patient, and resilient approach
8. Enjoys working with children and supporting those with additional needs
9. Has strong communication and teamwork skills
10. Has experience with Autism and/or challenging behaviour
11. Holds, or is working towards, a relevant qualification
12. Is reliable, flexible, and committed to making a positive impact
