National Parks were designated in order to protect beautiful areas for the benefit of the nation. They came about as a result of the 1949 National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, which put a legislative framework in place for the establishment of National Parks in England and Wales.
The Role
To be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Authoritys heritage and building conservation service and related development management and policy advice; To promote the conservation of the historic environment of the National Park and help ensure appropriate high-quality development; To ensure the service meets the needs of its users and performance targets are met.
1. To provide specialist building conservation advice and recommendations to the Development Management Team on listed building consent applications, conservation area consent applications and heritage related planning applications.
2. To provide specialist heritage and building conservation advice on preapplication and other planning enquiries.
