About the role
The Deputy Business Manager will ensure the smooth management of business operations. In this role, you will work closely with the Business Manager to ensure the effective implementation of business strategies, goals, and objectives, while overseeing a wide range of operational, financial, and team-related responsibilities.
You will co-ordinate and contribute to the smooth running of the business support administration function.
The role is primarily based at JCMB on the King's Waterloo Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion. King's has a hybrid working scheme where staff may be able to work remotely for part of the week, as determined by required output and departmental need.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 18/09/2026 or upon the substantive post holder's return.

About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Excellent numerical and data management skills, with great attention to detail
2. Experience of administration, including managing budgets and other resources, preferably in an academic environment
3. Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrable experience dealing with a wide variety of people and levels of seniority.
4. Computer literate with demonstrable experience using advanced functions in Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX) and Power BI or other analytics tools
5. Advanced organisational skills with excellent planning and prioritising
6. Ability to influence others and contribute proactively to the department with a 'hands on' approach to working
7. Ability to balance competing priorities under pressure of deadlines and workload and ability to take on new tasks with minimal supervision
8. Experience of adhering to organisational policy and processes and ensuring these are communicated to and followed by other members of staff.A professional attitude with ability to employ discretion and confidentiality as appropriate.
