Design Manager – Powering the Future of Sustainable Freight

An ambitious and well-funded clean energy infrastructure company, fresh off a £100m funding round, is seeking a Design Manager with an electrical design background to join its mission to decarbonize UK road freight. Based in the Greater Leeds area, you will be at the heart of innovation, designing the blueprint for a cleaner, greener logistics future.

What You’ll Be Doing:
* Lead the end-to-end electrical design process across RIBA stages 1–4, contributing actively during early-stage design
* Manage and mentor a growing in-house team of civil, CAD, and architectural designers
* Oversee design collaborations with M&E, architecture, structural engineering, ecology, and planning partners
* Optimize site layouts, drainage, buildings, and infrastructure to balance quality, cost, and future-readiness
* Collaborate with site sourcing, planning, construction, and technology teams to realize new sites
* Ensure high-quality, accurate design outputs for smooth construction phases
What You’ll Bring:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with solid LV/HV design experience
* Proven experience delivering complex design projects and managing engineering teams
* Versatility across disciplines such as civil infrastructure, architecture, planning, or highways is advantageous
* Proficiency in tools like SketchUp, Revit, and Civil 3D
* Strong communication and leadership skills, with a curious and collaborative mindset
