We’re looking for a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Gateshead, supporting children and young adults aged 5 to 25 with a range of learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive and structured environment. The hours for this role will be Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on an ongoing basis.
Key Duties:
* Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis in line with individual learning and care plans
* Assist with communication, personal care, and daily routines as needed
* Promote a safe, calm, and positive learning atmosphere
* Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting individuals with special educational needs
* Calm, patient, and adaptable approach
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
Nice to Have:
* Previous experience in a special school, PRU, or alternative provision
* Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Makaton, PECS)
