Senior Research Associate (Level B) – Trauma Care Research
Join UNSW as a Senior Research Associate in the field of trauma care, focusing on management of traumatic fractures in resource‑constrained settings. The role reports to the Professor and has no direct reports.
* Employment type: Full‑time (35 hours a week)
* Duration: 2‑year fixed‑term contract
* Remuneration: Level B starting at $127,947 base (plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading)
* Visa: Full Australian working rights required; visa sponsorship not available
* Location: Kensington Campus, Sydney NSW
Key Accountabilities
* Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
* Create scholarly impact in the discipline recognized by peers.
* Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, independently or as a team member.
* Establish a personal research portfolio and begin developing independent research proposals.
* Contribute to competitive funding applications under guidance of senior colleagues.
* Participate as co‑investigator or chief investigator in grant applications, or demonstrate active participation in funded research collaborations; lead qualitative data management in the 5‑country HIPCARE trial under Australian investigators.
* Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes at regional HIPCARE trial sites.
* Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings, draft manuscripts in collaboration with regional HIPCARE investigators.
* Contribute to research processes, liaise with study investigators and analysts, and prepare manuscripts for the Inormus Study.
Key Skills
* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Commitment to staying up‑to‑date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Track record in hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing research, especially in low‑ and middle‑income settings.
* Peer networks in orthopaedic research in the Asia‑Pacific region.
* Expertise designing, conducting, analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical, participatory methods.
* Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
* High‑level communication skills and ability to network effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to write, edit, publish high‑quality manuscripts in peer‑reviewed journals.
* Team collaboration across disciplines and building effective relationships.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
