Purpose of the role:
To advise and support people managers by providing first-class, business-focused operational HR services throughout the employee lifecycle. The role involves handling escalated employee matters from first-line HR support.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
* Provide practical and effective employee relations advice across the site to Line Managers and colleagues, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
* Manage queries empathetically and communicate outcomes clearly to minimize appeals.
* Attend investigations or hearings as a note taker or HR support where necessary.
* Work proactively with managers to resolve complex cases and coach them to handle such issues confidently.
* Utilize Occupational Health appropriately within HR casework and write referrals to OH Advisors.
Recruitment:
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external recruitment agencies, ensuring adherence to the European Recruitment Policy.
* Manage advertising of roles internally and externally, including social media and agency briefings.
* Organize and oversee the temporary-to-permanent recruitment process with selected agencies, ensuring compliance with Agency Worker Regulations.
* Screen CVs, facilitate recruitment tests, and participate in interviews as needed.
* Ensure all new hire paperwork is correctly sent out and coordinate onboarding with hiring managers.
Learning and Development:
* Support relevant training initiatives related to change plans and local priorities.
* Promote the use of all learning solutions, including e-learning platforms, maximizing virtual learning opportunities.
* Collaborate with the UK HR team and managers on employee development plans, discussions, and delivery.
Payroll:
* Responsible for payroll accuracy, including checking and cross-referencing timesheets, absence forms, overtime approvals, and benefits updates.
General:
* Provide reception cover on an ad hoc basis.
* Support the HR Business Partner in applying employee relations policies fairly and identifying areas for improvement.
* Maintain knowledge of employment legislation, best practices, and case law.
* Share HR knowledge and expertise with the wider team.
* Provide management with timely operational HR information.
* Maintain HR records in compliance with GDPR.
* Drive HR excellence aligned with KPIs to improve service and employee satisfaction.
* Support health and safety standards proactively.
Projects and other responsibilities:
* Assist the HR Business Partner with external and internal ethical audits.
* Participate in or lead specific projects as required.
Requirements:
Must Have:
* Minimum qualification: Maths and English GCSE or O’Level.
Desirable:
* Further education or CIPD qualification or equivalent HR training.
Experience:
* Roles in HR as officer or advisor.
Skills and qualifications:
* Strong values such as integrity, honesty, and respect, with a commitment to confidentiality.
* Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, and work under pressure with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
* Knowledge of HRIS systems (payroll, employee database, time and attendance).
* Excellent written English and communication skills.
* Good with statistics, attentive to detail, rigorous, flexible, calm, and analytical.
