Are you a commercially minded lawyer with expertise in IT law and data protection looking to for your next in house role or wanting to make the leap from private practice to in house?
We’re working with a well-known, market-leading business seeking a Legal Counsel (4–5 PQE) to join a small, high-performing legal team. This permanent role offers the chance to engage with senior stakeholders, influence business decisions, and shape governance across a fast-moving, tech-driven environment.
The role is varied and no days are the same but will include:
* Advising on IT legal matters including software licensing, cybersecurity, and tech procurement
* Leading on data privacy, GDPR compliance, and data governance policies
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial and technology contracts
* Providing strategic legal input on digital innovation, compliance, and business risk
* Identify and assess legal risks related to IT systems, cybersecurity, and software usage, providing practical guidance to minimize exposure
* Assisting with disputes relating to IT systems and commercial contracts, and managing outside counsel
* Contributing to the design and implementation of internal policies and frameworks, particularly in IT governance, data protection, and contract management.
* Collaborating cross-functionally with tech, compliance, and operational teams
What we’re looking for:
* UK-qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 years PQE
* Solid experience in IT law, data protection (GDPR), and commercial contracts
* Experience in commercial law is essential, with a demonstrated ability to handle complex agreements
* Comfortable working across a wide range of legal areas with excellent stakeholder engagement
* Driven, collaborative, and solutions-focused
On offer is a competitive base salary, car allowance, 25% bonus and a generous employer pension contribution. There is hybrid working, of 2 days per week in the office, from the office based in Bedford.
