Safe accommodation team - various roles

This Safe Accommodation Team is a fast-paced front-line service. The roles support homeless clients who have fled Domestic Abuse and are referred by the Housing Options Team. We then support them while they are residing in the local authority’s temporary accommodation.

We have the following roles available :

Female Housing Support Worker - (Refuge) –CC547

Female Housing Support Worker (Domestic Abuse) –CC548

Floating Support Officer (Tenancy Sustainment) – CC549

Young Persons Housing Support Worker – CC550

Housing Support Worker – CC551

The roles include supporting those who have experienced significant trauma throughout their lives and support them in their recovery to move forward from Temporary Accommodation to their own sustainable Housing Option. They will provide intensive, practical and emotional support to those with are experiencing a number of support needs, some who may have alcohol, drug and mental health needs.

The roles focus on assessing and identifying needs, co-producing support plans with service users, and taking a lead role where necessary to link in with all relevant services and agencies. The role also requires a more flexible approach to help break down the barriers these clients face when accessing the support they need. You will be able to demonstrate that you have a good understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding, risk assessment, and confidentiality.

Please note : Calderdale Council is an equal opportunities employer and service provider. Due to the nature of the roles CC547 and CC548, it is a requirement that the post holder is female and is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1.

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 qualification in Social Care, Health, Housing, or other Level 3 qualification together with proven relevant experience. In addition, you will need to have experience of working directly with adults who have experienced multiple disadvantage and or experience of working with people with drug or alcohol or mental health needs. Also a knowledge of domestic abuse and the impacts on adults.
