Themunications Department plays a central role in ‘bringing to life’ this charity's vision. The Head of Fundraising will oversee an exciting Direct Mail programme, generating approximately £8 million annually, while also inspiring creativity and innovation across fundraising activities. This is an opportunity for a dynamic and visionary fundraiser to join the charity to help grow ie streams and inspire deeper supporter engagement, all while championing their mission.
Your new role
Strategic Leadership
1. Shape and deliver a fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s vision and objectives.
2. Lead planning, execution, and evaluation of creative and integrated fundraising campaigns across digital, broadcast, events and direct mail.
3. Explore new ideas and opportunities to grow ie, creating a diverse and sustainable portfolio of fundraising activities.
4. Stay attuned to trends in charitable giving and apply insights to improve business fundraising impact.
Direct Mail Programme
5. Lead a successful Direct Mail programme and ensure it meets engagement and financial targets. Look for ways to creatively further develop the programme, helping charities to engage with more people.
6. Collaborate with Writing and Data teams to craft effective campaigns, including messaging, audience segmentation and impact reporting.
7. Cultivate strong relationships with external suppliers to optimise print and postage costs.
8. Drive continual improvement by testing, analysing, and enhancing donor acquisition, retention, and reactivation strategies.
Broader Fundraising Initiatives
9. Develop and oversee other fundraising streams, such as digital fundraising and on-air broadcast appeals, in partnership with skilled in-house teams.
10. Work alongside themunications Director and Head of Strategic Partnerships to createpelling cases for support for major donors and trusts.
11. Lead the planning and delivery of engaging and mission-driven broadcast fundraising appeals.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
12. Provide creative and inspiring leadership to the fundraising team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
13. Manage and mentor team members, including the Direct Mail Lead, Data Analysts, and others as required.
14. Collaborate with other department heads to ensure fundraising campaigns integrate seamlessly with the charity's broader goals.
15. Encourage professional development within the team, building their confidence and skills in fundraising.
What you'll need to succeed
16. Proven experience in a senior fundraising role, with a track record of achieving financial targets across multiple ie streams.
17. Specialist knowledge and hands-on experience in Direct Mail fundraising.
18. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop others.
19. Excellent project management skills, capable of planning, executing, and evaluatingplex campaigns.
20. Creative and strategic thinker with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
21. Exceptional written and verbalmunication skills, with experience in craftingpelling fundraising content.
What you'll get in return
This is a permanent opportunity, based in Staffordshire. The salary is £45,000-£50,000, depending on experience. This role is hybrid, offering you the opportunity to work from home twice per week once fullypetent in the role.
