Payroll Manager

💰 £52,000–£56,000
Contract: 9–12 month FTC
The Role
A leadership role responsible for managing the full payroll function within a large, multi-site organisation.
You will ensure accurate, compliant payroll delivery while overseeing pensions, reporting, and audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end payroll processing and ensure timely, accurate payments
* Manage payroll data including salaries, benefits, absence, and adjustments
* Oversee HMRC reporting, RTI submissions, and year-end processes
* Administer pensions and auto-enrolment compliance
* Support audits and maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
* Implement pay reviews and salary changes
* Handle payroll queries and liaise with HR and finance teams
* Support system improvements and process enhancements
The Ideal Candidate
* Proven experience in a Payroll Manager role
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and pensions
* CIPP Level 5 (or equivalent experience)
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Confident managing payroll queries and stakeholder relationships
* Strong Excel and payroll systems knowledge
* Experience in education or multi-site environments (desirable)
