As a Technical Artist on RuneScape: Dragonwilds, our new open-world survival crafting game currently in early access and being developed in Unreal Engine 5, you’ll play a key role in developing high-quality tools, materials, and pipelines that empower artists and elevate the overall visual experience. You’ll collaborate with a motivated and passionate team to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and create innovative technical solutions that bring the magic of the RuneScape universe to life. What you’ll be doing: Spearhead the development of performant shaders and visual tools to support high-quality art creation. Collaborate with artists to design, build, and maintain tools, processes, and pipelines that improve efficiency and workflow for artists. Develop technical solutions using scripting or programming languages within production applications. Assist other artists with technical challenges and provide guidance on best practices. Profile and optimise the game, shaders, and systems to ensure smooth performance across the project. Support the wider Tech Art initiative by identifying workflow inefficiencies and implementing practical solutions. Maintain strong communication and collaboration with multiple disciplines to deliver technically sound and visually compelling results. What we’re looking for: Strong understanding of shaders and the rendering pipeline, with particular expertise in Unreal Engine’s Material system. Good understanding of Blueprints and Unreal workflows. A self-motivated, pragmatic individual who takes ownership of their work from start to finish. Eagerness to learn, grow, and continually improve both technical and artistic skills. Ideally, a portfolio showcasing creative, technically innovative work.
