An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading operator in the UK energy sector as an
Environmental Team Lead
, managing a small team of Environmental Advisors to deliver high-impact environmental performance across both onshore and offshore producing assets.
Based in
Norwich
with occasional offshore and site travel, this role is integral to ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, supporting ISO14001:2015 standards, and influencing sustainable performance across all operational activity—from production to decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage environmental permitting (OPPC, ETS, Chemical) across offshore assets.
* Deliver and maintain the site's ISO14001:2015 certification and environmental planning strategy.
* Oversee environmental audits, inspections, internal reporting (e.g. EEMS, OSPAR, OPPC, SECR), and regulator submissions.
* Act as company representative in external environmental matters and liaison with UK regulators.
* Provide technical oversight on project-related environmental work and ensure training material is maintained and delivered.
* Line manage Environmental Advisors, offering coaching, performance reviews, and support.
* Support incident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and preventive actions.
* Provide budget input and oversight on environmental components of wider HSE activity.
Requirements:
Essential:
* Strong experience in environmental roles within the
UK offshore upstream Oil & Gas sector
, ideally in an operator environment.
* Technical knowledge across offshore production, drilling, subsea and well intervention operations.
* Expertise in UK environmental legislation, emissions trading schemes, and permitting systems (PORTAL, EEMS, ETSWAP).
* Trained
ISO14001 auditor
with experience managing and maintaining certification.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or similar HSE qualification.
* Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related subject.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable:
* Team leadership experience.
* MSc in Environmental Management or equivalent.
* Full Membership of IEMA or equivalent professional body.
* COMAH, NORM management, RPS certification.
* Experience in onshore terminal operations.
