Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our team here at Parklands Surgery. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our surgery and assisting our Lead Pharmacy Technician in offering exceptional patient care and delivering an accurate medication management service.
Hours: 20 hours per week.
For the right candidate this could be discussed further. Working pattern can be flexible to fit around current commitments (eg childcare). Working from home for some of the hours could also be considered.
Responsibilities
· Responding to patient questions both face to face and over the phone, referring problems or queries to the GP.
· Reviewing clinical correspondence (including discharges and clinical letters) and making the appropriate medication changes, and arranging appropriate follow up.
· In line with the above, checking the accuracy of any changes made by Practice admin teams.
· Participating in medication audits, paying particular attention to patients who are prescribed more high-risk drugs and ensuring timely and effective monitoring is in place.
· Providing advice and information to GPs, staff, and patients to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and the appropriate use of medicines to get the best outcomes for patients.
· Assisting in the monitoring and management of prescribing budgets and the preparation of evidence-based resources and information that support cost-effective prescribing.
· Completing annual medication usage reviews, concentrating on patient compliance and advice on how to take medications, when appropriate training has been completed.Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently
You must be able to
* Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns regarding medications
* Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is highly desirable
* Knowledge of medication administration practices and protocols
* Strong commitment to patient care with excellent communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
* A valid Pharmacy Technician certification or equivalent qualification is preferred
Essential
* Experience within a pharmacy, dispensary or General Practice
* Strong understanding of medication prescribing, administration practices and protocols
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient care.
Desirable
* Pharmacy Technician (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
* Registered with the GPhC
* Experience of using TPP SystmOne clinical system
* CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway
