Job description
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Project Engineer to join a major Defence Sector programme within the nuclear industry. This is a contract position focusing on delivering a replacement assembly and disassembly facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in the construction management and delivery services, ensuring a cost-effective solution for the end user.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and guidance to the site team, interpreting drawings, specifications, and design information.
2. Quality Assurance: Assist in implementing and monitoring quality control procedures, ensuring works are completed to the highest standards and in accordance with project specifications and regulations.
3. Programme Management: Support the Project Manager in developing, monitoring, and updating project programmes, identifying potential delays and proposing mitigation strategies.
4. Subcontractor Coordination: Liaise with subcontractors, ensuring their works align with the project programme and technical requirements.
5. Health & Safety: Promote and adhere to strict health and safety standards on site, conducting regular inspections and contributing to risk assessments.
6. Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the construction process.
7. Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports for the Project Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming activities.
8. Stakeholder Liaison: Contribute to effective communication with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders as required.
Skills & Experience:
9. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
10. Experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer on construction projects in the UK.
11. Experience and understanding of passive fire protection and fire stopping systems is desirable but not required.
12. Solid understanding of construction methods, techniques, and regulations.
13. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
14. Experience with project programming software (e.g., Primavera P6) is highly desirable.
15. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
16. Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
17. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
18. Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
19. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
20. CSCS card holder (or equivalent).
21. SC clearance is required.
