Main duties of the job
1. To manage the provision of the EP/CRM service. Providing services to both outpatients and inpatients.
2. To manage the EP/CRM physiologist/clinical scientist establishment and oversee the training of junior members of staff and other healthcare professional visitors to the department.
3. To facilitate / participate in research projects in collaboration with cardiology consultants within the department.
4. To perform non-routine tests where necessary.
5. To ensure implementation of clinical governance, complaints, and risk management process for the service in monitoring of compliance with clinical governance standards, other Trust-wide policies and processes and best practice requirements.
6. Act as the focal point for communication for the service and ensure effective communication to all stakeholders, ensuring views and decisions are communicated both up and down the management structure

Essential criteria
7. Qualified cardiac physiologist
8. IBHRE/BHRS up to date accreditation and registration
9. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, including attendance of local/in-house management courses
10. Up-to-date local mandatory training
Desirable criteria
11. Higher academic qualification (MSc/MBA/PhD/doctoral study)
12. Formal management qualification
13. Registered clinical scientist with the HCPC
14. Clinical assessment training
Experience
Essential criteria
15. >5 years’ experience as a band 7 chief cardiac physiologist
16. Previous leadership of a department/sub-speciality area of cardiac physiology
17. Line-management responsibilities for a team of physiologists
18. Strong teaching/training background for individuals undergoing accreditation
Desirable criteria
19. Previously employment as band 8a department lead
20. Lead on service improvement projects with demonstrable outcomes
21. Development of physiologist/scientist led services
22. Personal experience of performing physiologist/scientist led clinics
