Job Description
Job Title: UX Designer (Salesforce / Public Sector) - ACTIVE SC REQUIRED
Contract Length: 6 Months (Initial)
Day Rate: £550 P/D (Inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid // London
Clearance: SC Cleared
Role Overview
As a UX Designer, you will be responsible for designing user-centered digital services that meet the GDS Service Standard and the GOV.UK Design System, while leveraging the Salesforce platform. You will work within a multi-disciplinary Agile team to translate complex policy requirements into simple, accessible, and functional user journeys.
Your challenge will be to balance "out-of-the-box" Salesforce functionality with the strict usability and accessibility requirements of a government service.
Key Responsibilities
* User-Centered Design (UCD): Lead the end-to-end design process, from initial discovery and user journey mapping to high-fidelity prototyping.
* Salesforce Implementation: Utilize the Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) to create interfaces that are technically feasible within the Salesforce ecosystem (Experience Cloud, Public Sector Solutions, etc.).
* GDS Compliance: Ensure all designs align with the GOV.UK Service Manual and pass GDS service assessments.
* Accessibility: Design services that are accessible by default, meeting WCAG 2.2 AA standards as a minimum.
* Prototyping: Create interactive prototypes (using Figma, Sketch, or the GOV.UK Prototype Kit) to test with users and demonstrate functionality to stakeholders.
* Stakeholder Management: Work closely with Product Owners, Salesforce Architects, and Developers to negotiate the balance between user needs and technical "out-of-the-box" configuration.
* Collaboration: Participate in regular Agile ceremonies and work alongside User Researchers to iterate designs based on evidence and testing results.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Public Sector Experience: Proven track record of working on UK government projects and a deep understanding of the GDS lifecycle (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live).
* Salesforce Expertise: Experience designing for Salesforce environments, specifically understanding the constraints and capabilities of Lightning Components and Experience Cloud.
* Design Tools: Mastery of Figma, Adobe XD, or similar, and ideally experience with the GOV.UK Prototype Kit (HTML/Nunjucks).
* Evidence-Based Design: Ability to articulate design decisions through user research data and analytics rather than personal preference.
* Agile Delivery: Experienced in working within Scrum or Kanban frameworks in fast-paced delivery environments.
Essential Requirements
* Experience passing GDS Service Assessments.
* Portfolio demonstrating complex user journeys and simplified data-entry flows (highly relevant for Salesforce projects).
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to "sell" UCD principles to technical Salesforce teams.
