Ecology Team Leader – North East – Tetra Tech Europe

About the Role
You will lead and grow our regional ecology team, delivering high‑quality ecological services while building strong client relationships and supporting business development. You will guide projects from initial consultation through to delivery and provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Development: Mentor and inspire staff, manage timesheets, pastoral care and duty of care where appropriate; lead the development of staff in line with strategic goals.
* Client Engagement: Build and maintain trusted relationships with existing and new clients, positioning Tetra Tech as a partner for nature‑related needs.
* Project Leadership: Take an active role in projects, providing expert ecological input from initial stages through to delivery; support junior project managers and troubleshoot where needed.
* Technical Expertise: Deliver high‑level technical guidance, supervise the creation of standard technical solutions, verify outputs meet quality standards and lead the development of best practice and research; experience with ecological impact assessment, EIA reports and habitat regulations.
* Business Growth: Contribute to strategic development of the Nature department; support bids, tenders and framework opportunities; identify new and existing client opportunities.
Requirements
* Appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline.
* Full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist.
* Demonstrable industry experience and capability to fulfil the role.
* Full driving licence.

Full‑time hybrid working with the flexibility to work from home or the office as required. Reduced or compressed hours, flexible start or finish times are available to suit the right candidate.
