SHEQ Advisor – Lisburn
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated SHEQ Safety Advisor to join their growing team operating across Northern Ireland. A busy civil engineering contractor employing approximately 80 staff, the company delivers works across public and private sector contracts. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who can support and improve the company’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality standards while helping develop and maintain ISO accredited management systems throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote and maintain a positive health & safety culture across all company operations
* Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks on live road and construction projects
* Prepare RAMS, safety documentation, toolbox talks, and site reports
* Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
* Ensure compliance with all current Northern Ireland health & safety legislation and industry standards
* Assist with implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of ISO management systems including:
o ISO 9001 – Quality Management
o ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
o ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety
* Support management during external audits and accreditation processes
* Work closely with operational staff, supervisors, mechanics, and management teams to improve compliance and performance
* Deliver safety briefings and assist with staff training and inductions
* Monitor subcontractor compliance and documentation
Essential Requirements
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a SHEQ / Health & Safety role within construction & civils
* Good understanding of ISO standards and compliance systems
* Strong knowledge of construction health & safety legislation
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Full UK driving licence
* Ability to work independently and across multiple live sites
Desirable Requirements
* Experience working within highways or civil engineering sectors
* Internal Auditor qualification
* CSCS / CSR card
* Experience implementing ISO systems throughout a business
* Temporary Traffic Management awareness
