Permanent
De Lacy Executive
Posted: 9h ago
Offer description

Do you have experience in aquaculture and are looking for a fresh challenge? If you've got practical experience on commercial fish farms or technical experience in fisheries science and welfare, this could be the perfect role for you.

As an aquaculture assessor, you'll step away from the day-to-day demands of on-site fisheries work, while staying connected to the industry. Enjoy a structured Monday to Friday schedule, regional travel, and the satisfaction of using your experience to make a real impact on fisheries welfare, without being tied to one place.

In this role, you'll carry out assessments of hatcheries, freshwater sites and seawater farms, ensuring they meet high welfare standards. You'll have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of aquaculture professionals, providing feedback and guidance to help them achieve best practices.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your career while still being hands-on. You'll receive a competitive salary, company car, healthcare, and pension, along with full training and support to transition into the role.

The Role:

• Travel - Extensive travel across Scottish Highlands and Islands including to Orkney and Shetland

• Inspect water quality records, stocking densities, mortalities, handling/slaughter procedures, medicine use and welfare outcomes

• Assessments - Conduct thorough welfare, on-site and procedural assessments in adherence to the assurance scheme.

• Feedback - Provide verbal assessment feedback and create written reports.

• Unannounced monitoring visits - conduct unannounced monitoring visits and review corrective actions for compliance.

• Admin - Schedule assessments, write reports and maintain records. Use Digital audit forms and CRM systems.

You will have:

• Commitment to high welfare standards

• 2 or more years' experience working on a commercial fish farm OR considerable technical experience in fisheries science/marine biology fields

• Practical marine experience - comfortable working on small vessels/boats, able to access cages/loch sites safely, familiar with on-farm biosecurity and PPE.

• Good IT skills for digital audit forms.

• Full UK driving licence

• Willing to travel extensively and stay away occasionally

The package:

• Competitive salary

• Company car

• Fuel Card

• Healthcare

• Pension
