Adult Social Care Senior Lawyer West Northamptonshire (Local Authority) Initial 3-6 month contract Rate: Umbrella, negotiable 37 hours per week Undertake a caseload of Adult Social Care matters. Provide detailed and accurate advice on the Council's responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Mental Health Act 1983. Provide legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including Ordinary Residence, safeguarding, provider failure S117 aftercare. Submit applications to the Court of Protection and high Court e.g COP applications for Deputyship, welfare and best interests, DOL, S21a challenges, JR and inherent jurisdiction. Attend court, negotiate and conduct your own advocacy. To identify and implement developments in areas of practice including cascading those developments to officers within the legal service. To promote a positive image of the Council. Keep up to date on relevant new legislation, case law, codes of practice, guidance and policy. To build and maintain good working relationships with fellow officers and foster partnership working with external partners / agencies. To contribute to the development of a customer focused legal service.
