We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Hewell, a category B remand prison based in Redditch, Worcestershire. HMP Hewell has a fast‑paced healthcare environment delivering care to males aged 21+, with a range of needs including substance misuse and long‑term conditions. Within this role you will work closely with senior nurses to deliver reception care which includes first‑night prescribing, discharge prescribing, urgent follow‑up for duty doctor, and substance‑misuse prescribing.
About The Role
Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a GP, your responsibilities will vary and offer opportunities for advanced learning in areas not commonly encountered in general practice or A&E.
Hours
* Monday 17:30 – 21:30
* Tuesday 17:30 – 21:30
* Friday 17:30 – 21:30
* Saturdays 13:00 – 17:00 or 14:00 – 18:00
This is a part‑time role working 16 hours per week.
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary up to £124,320 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Requirements
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
