Offer description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a welcoming and inclusive school setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who require additional support to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).

Location: Burnley
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Start Date: 1st September 2026

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN
* Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
* Support students with academic, social, and emotional development
* Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
* Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements

* Previous experience working with children, ideally within an SEN setting
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
* A passion for supporting children with additional needs
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
