Your Role
We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and experienced EAL Consultants to join our vibrant and highly regarded EAL service. Colleagues will work alongside schools across Stockport to support them to deliver outstanding inclusive EAL practice across all key stages, and support the wider equality and diversity agenda. You will be working in partnership with schools, leaders, teachers and other professionals in an advisory role to develop EAL best practice across schools and improve outcomes for EAL learners. The successful candidate will develop and deliver professional development to schools and other professionals, and increase capacity amongst school staff through guidance and advice.
About You
Candidates should have qualified teacher status (QTS) and a proven track record of working successfully with EAL children, to ensure that they receive a high quality education and achieve positive outcomes. Candidates will have recent and significant experience of EAL learners and of implementing EAL best practice across school and the classroom. You will understand the complexities and sensitivities of working with children and families from varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including refugees and those seeking asylum. You will be confident delivering training and a confident communicator capable of working strategically with schools and leaders to help shape outstanding EAL practice. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player. We welcome candidates with EYFS, primary and/or secondary experience.

We are a specialist service providing a wide range of support for schools and EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners. We also support schools with the wider equality and diversity agenda, and have strong ties to Stockport Interpreting Unit. Our team work alongside schools to strengthen EAL provision, providing strategic advice alongside practical teaching and learning strategies. Our bank of casual Bilingual Assistants give schools access to a multitude of languages to support their EAL children, and we also offer a Cultural Talks programme to schools.
