The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside a range of other associated conditions. Role
Pastoral Support Assistant
Joining to support our young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and SEMH. You’ll help meet emotional needs by applying high standards of care, working with families, and developing programs for each individual young person. Through careful assessment and planning, you’ll create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.
Responsibilities
* Support young people with challenging emotional and behavioural needs (e.g., ASD/SEMH) in a school or care setting.
* Listen, motivate and work effectively as part of a team to inspire young people to achieve.
* Engage with families and develop individualized programs based on assessment and planning.
* Contribute to creating a positive learning environment that enables each pupil to thrive.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting.
* Good listener with the ability to motivate and work in a team.
* Flexible and well-organised with strong planning skills.
* Ideally NVQ 3 in Care or Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
* Experience of multi-agency work with an understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation, policies and guidance.
