The Visitor Experience Assistant (with Catering) is a flexible and friendly person, willing to work across all Museum and Castle sites, supporting the successful delivery of visitor services and ensuring that visitors and local people are able to access high quality, enjoyable and interactive experiences.
You will be based at Pontefract Castle working in the newly opened 'Keep Cafe', working 20 hours in the summer (April to September) and 25 in the winter (October to March) - Wednesday to Sunday.
The overall responsibility of the post is to:
1. Provide excellent customer service to ensure that visitors are offered a welcoming and engaging experience that encourages repeat visits and recommendations
2. Take customer orders, serve food and drinks efficiently, and provide information about menu items, while upselling where appropriate
3. Handle customer payments accurately using the correct systems and processes
4. Undertake basic food preparation and kitchen tasks as needed, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met.
5. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of front-of-house and back-of-house areas, including tables, service stations and catering equipment.
