Description: We regularly recruit to the Learning Support Assistant role, and keep this as an open vacancy on our website. We review applications as vacancies arise. Applications will be kept as active for up to 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide learning support for groups and/or individuals with identified learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including in-class and out-of-class support, residential activities, educational visits, or work experience.
* Support learners with additional needs in literacy and numeracy.
* Contribute to planning, differentiation, and target setting with curriculum staff and the wider Student Support team.
* Record, review, and adapt strategies throughout the academic year using ILPs and other college systems.
* Facilitate student integration and enrichment activities; support transition processes.
* Assist the Student Support Manager with Healthcare Plans, PEEPs, exam concessions, and specialist equipment as required.
* Support learners with personal care and medical needs, including administration of medication as indicated in Healthcare Plans.
* Develop and adapt accessible resources and materials prior to lessons to maximise learning opportunities.
* Assist learners with the use of specialist equipment and embed assistive technology to promote independence.
* Engage with external agencies to gather information to inform learning support.
* Engage in continuous professional development.
* Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential Criteria
* Level 2 (GCSE A*-C) in English and Maths.
* A recognised Level 2/3 qualification in Learning Support or equivalent.
* Experience of working with young people and with individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
* Experience of providing additional support in literacy and/or numeracy.
* Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office applications; willingness to undertake role-related training.
Desirable Criteria
* PTLLS
* First Aid Certificate
* Experience with student records systems, electronic ILPs, Promonitor
Specialist Knowledge
* Knowledge of the support needs of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including conditions such as autism and dyslexia.
* Knowledge of supporting learning with sensory impairment.
Experience
* Experience of working with learners with personal care needs and/or medical conditions (desirable).
* Experience of note taking to support learning (desirable).
