THE ROLE
Duties
We are seeking a Legal Secretary to join our Residential Property team, available for either part-time or full-time work at our Bury St Edmunds office. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Transcribing and producing correspondence and documentation requested by fee earners via digital dictation and Outlook, including amendments and formatting as needed.
2. Handling general conveyancing duties such as preparing contract packs, ordering searches, submitting SDLT forms, and applications to HMLR.
3. Opening and closing files based on instructions from fee earners.
4. Producing invoices.
5. Attending to clients via phone and in person, managing inquiries from existing and new clients as instructed by fee earners.
6. Taking and accurately recording messages, passing them promptly to the appropriate person.
7. Providing cover for other secretaries when they are on holiday or unwell.
8. Making appointments, arranging meetings, and maintaining an up-to-date diary for fee earners.
9. Ensuring confidentiality of all client documentation and information.
10. Undertaking additional tasks as needed to support team delivery of excellent client service.
Knowledge And Skills
* Experience in an office environment, ideally within a property team at a law firm.
* Accurate work with good attention to detail.
* Typing speed of 60 WPM.
* Good administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Educational background including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Professional and friendly demeanor.
* Experience with case management systems is desirable but not essential.

Hours and Salary
The salary for this role is £31,720.00 (FTE). Working hours are 9am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
