Role Description
The Senior Frontline Operations Manager plays a central leadership role within our Field Operations directorate, providing structured management oversight and direction to frontline supervisors across the region. The role ensures consistent operational standards, strong day‑to‑day coordination and a high level of organisational readiness across all workstreams.
Working closely with Production Managers, Technical Support and Resource Planning teams, you will orchestrate people, processes and priorities to deliver safe, efficient and high‑quality outcomes for our customers and our network. This role is responsible for embedding consistent leadership behaviours, driving performance improvement and ensuring our frontline supervisors are equipped, supported and aligned with operational goals.
You will bring strong leadership capability, digital confidence and proven experience in managing performance, enabling you to guide teams, analyse operational data, and maintain a structured approach to planning and service delivery.
The role involves managing industrial staff working on electricity distribution networks undertaking both planned & reactive duties, ensuring that we meet our targets & goals, particularly focusing on ensuring continuous improvements on OSHA targets, achieving the 12-hour restoration target & assisting with improving our LV & HV restoration performance.
Along with a competitive salary between £42,802 + £7,565 (banked) to £51,627 + £9,122 (banked) (Indutrial L4 pp9-13)

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
* Lead and develop frontline supervisors, ensuring they have clear objectives, accountability and support.
* Drive a strong leadership culture across operational teams, promoting collaboration, safety and productivity.
* Coach, mentor and guide supervisors in handling performance, behaviour, quality and customer outcomes.
* Support succession planning, capability development and skills growth across the operational workforce.
Operational Management & Planning
* Oversee operational planning and daily orchestration of work, ensuring efficient use of resources.
* Coordinate multiple workstreams, balancing planned, reactive, customer and urgent restoration priorities.
* Ensure supervisors maintain consistent field leadership around safety, productivity and compliance.
* Analyse work patterns, risks and operational constraints to improve planning accuracy and efficiency.
Performance Management & Data-Driven Improvement
* Lead performance management processes, including KPI tracking, improvement planning and compliance.
* Use digital tools and management systems to monitor progress, identify trends and address under‑performance.
* Produce high‑quality management reports, dashboards and insights to support decision‑making.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with regional and directorate goals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
* Act as a key link between regional management, Production Managers and frontline supervisors.
* Ensure organisational messages, safety alerts and priorities are communicated effectively and consistently.
* Build strong relationships across Field Operations, Customer Service, Technical Support and Planning teams.
* Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, challenge and support frontline teams.
* Excellent digital skills, including confidence with data, reporting tools and operational systems.
* Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal).
* Effective decision‑making under pressure and in fast‑paced operational environments.
* Robust organisational and planning capability.
* Ability to manage performance, coach others and hold people to account.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Demonstrated experience in leading teams within a technical or operational environment.
* Strong background in people management and performance management.
* Proven ability to use digital tools, management systems and reporting platforms effectively.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
* ILM Level 5 or higher (or equivalent leadership qualification).
* ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline.
* Prior experience within a Distribution Network Operator environment.
