Purpose of Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail driven Finance Assistant to support the commercial and finance teams on a prestigious Ministry of Defence (MoD) facilities management contract. This role is ideal for someone who is part qualified (AAT or similar) or actively studying, with strong transactional finance experience. This opportunity will offer a clear path through finance or can open doors into Commercial or Quantity Surveying career
Job Description
This is a financially heavy role, centred on invoicing, payment controls, and financial compliance, supporting both client and supply chain processes.
Responsibilities
Client Invoicing & Revenue Control
•Raise client invoices accurately through the client’s billing system.
•Produce and maintain detailed invoice spreadsheets for bulk upload into internal systems.
•Duplicate invoice data within SAP Connect to ensure internal financial alignment.
•Track invoicing status and ensure payments are received in line with agreed terms.
•Liaise with operational teams to resolve invoice queries and discrepancies.
Subcontractor & Purchase Ledger Support
•Receive, verify, and process subcontractor invoices through internal approval workflows.
•Ensure correct application of Domestic Reverse Charge (DRC) and CIS requirements.
•Validate supporting documentation prior to upload and payment processing.
•Maintain clear audit trails to support internal and external reviews.
Financial Administration & Controls
•Support Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and month end processes.
•Assist in the preparation of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
•Monitor financial data for accuracy, identifying errors, omissions, or variances.
•Ensure all finance activity aligns with internal policies, contractual obligations, and MoD compliance requirements.
Systems & Data Management
•Use SAP Connect for financial processing and invoice duplication.
•Use Maximo to support job tracking, cost capture, and asset linked financial data.
•Maintain accurate, well structured financial records to support audits and reporting.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
•Part qualified AAT (or studying towards AAT / finance qualification).
•Previous experience in a finance assistant, accounts, or commercial support role.
•Strong experience with invoicing, spreadsheets, and transactional finance processes.
•High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
•Confident Excel user (data tracking, reconciliations, uploads).
•Willingness to learn and progress within a commercial or finance environment.
