Job Summary We are seeking a Consultant Breast Radiologist for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. You will lead breast imaging services across three acute sites – Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and Stamford & Rutland Hospitals – and support our community hospitals. The role demands a subspecialist interest in Breast Imaging, strong leadership, and a commitment to quality patient care. The closing date is 17 June 2026.
Who We’re Looking For
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice (or eligibility within 6 months).
* UK-trained applicants must have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within 6 months of award at interview.
* Non‑UK-trained applicants must demonstrate CCT equivalence.
* Subspecialist interest in Breast Imaging is essential.
* Strong leadership qualities with a focus on teamwork, patient care, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver subspecialty radiology services in alignment with departmental needs, driving service improvement.
* Provide leadership and clinical expertise across general radiology, working closely with colleagues in a collaborative environment.
* Actively contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Develop and maintain your subspecialty interest, enhancing the department’s offering to meet patient and service requirements.
* Lead and contribute to audit projects and protocol development, ensuring best practices are followed.
Person Specification – Essential
* FRCR or equivalent qualification.
* CCT in Radiology or equivalent (or within 6 months of receipt) or on the Specialist Register.
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to obtaining UK CCT Radiology with subspecialty accreditation/experience.
* Experience supervising or teaching undergraduates, junior doctors and other staff.
* Track record of engaging in clinical governance and learning from errors.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council and licence to practice.
* Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust’s Values and Behaviours.
* Ability to undertake diagnostic Breast Imaging, including aspiration and biopsies.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems and critically appraise published evidence.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Higher qualification such as MD or PhD.
* Publications in recognised Radiology journals.
* Research projects relating to the speciality.
* Evidence of ability to pursue independent audit and research.
Key Skills – Essential
* Diagnostic Breast Imaging, aspiration and biopsies.
* Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Research application to clinical problems and critical appraisal of evidence.
