Buyer, Indirect Procurement (9-12 months FTC) VetPartners Limited, York (Hybrid) We have an opportunity for a Buyer to join the Group Indirect Procurement team, on a Fixed Term basis, until 31st December 2026. You will focus on sourcing goods and services that are essential for the company’s operations while supporting effective supplier performance and relationship management. You’ll join a small, supportive, and experienced procurement team, helping to improve how we manage indirect spend and deliver value for the business. The role covers all aspects of indirect spend, under which you’ll gain experience across a range of categories, from technology to business services and professional services. You will support the Senior Procurement Manager and the Group Indirect Procurement Director in driving category strategies, supplier performance initiatives, and efficiencies that demonstrate value to business stakeholders, with the opportunity to develop your procurement expertise in a collaborative, supportive environment. The key responsibilities of the role include: Working closely with internal departments and practices to understand their needs and provide procurement support accordingly Carrying out market research to identify potential suppliers, understand market trends, and run RFIs/RFPs and supplier quotations New supplier onboarding and setup Gather and analyse spend data and market insights to help shape category plans and inform good business decisions Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of goods and services Monitor supplier performance through agreed KPIs and feedback, supporting corrective actions where needed Focus on reducing costs and managing the total cost of ownership for purchases Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals Ensuring all procurement activities comply with company policies and regulations Look for ways to improve procurement processes and tools to make things simpler and more efficient Providing administrative support to the wider Indirect Procurement Team, such as, the onboarding and setup of new suppliers and coordination of internal stakeholder communications Serve as the first point of contact for procurement-related queries from our practice colleagues and internal teams, ensuring a helpful, professional, and solutions-focused response. Do you have the skills and experience we’re looking for: Experience: Initial experience built, working successfully, in a procurement role, ideally involving indirect spend Experience of entrepreneurial, acquisitive, and/or private equity backed environments would be desirable but not essential. Experience in a related sector (e.g. Healthcare) would be advantageous. Right to work in the UK, without sponsorship, is essential, as is presence in office, in York (YO30 4UZ), 2 days per week.
