We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our growing Diabetes Team to work on our Diabetic ward (Ward 216) and in our Diabetic Foot clinic.

Based at Royal Derby Hospital, you will work within the diabetes team supporting our multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide individualised, holistic care in a safe and caring environment. This will be within the Diabetic foot clinic and the diabetic ward.

You will be expected to work as part of our 27 bedded inpatient ward and have all the responsibilities of a general adult nurse within our medicine division and also be part of our diabetic foot clinic team.

Collaborating and sharing information within the Diabetes team, UHDB team and where necessary with our Community Partners.

We will offer a thorough induction package where the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulations and wound care.

We require a candidate that is organised, resilient and adaptable. We expect to see excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Above all else, we require quality patient care to be your priority at all times.

The job role requires assessment of patient's, initiating treatment plan, managing deteriorating patient's and assisting with patient flow through completing timely discharges and transfers to ward areas.

Ward 216 can be a fast-paced but exhilarating and highly rewarding place to work. We are dedicated to the promotion of staff well-being and there is always lots of support available from the senior nursing team.

In consultation with the MDT, prioritise, implement and evaluate patient care, in accordance with Trust polices, procedures, protocols and guidelines.

Undertake a range of extended clinical procedures relevant to the clinical area, in support of registered nurses and to ensure the implementation of individualised care plans. E.g. wound care and management, dressings and treating diabetic wound and general ward work.

Communicate effectively by giving, receiving and interpreting information so that appropriate action can be taken within the boundary of the role.

Work in partnership with all members of the interdisciplinary team both internal and external to the Trust to ensure continuity of care for the patient.

Reflect on own practice to identify future personal developments. Where appropriate, provide information to assist others in their personal development.
