Position Overview
This is an opportunity for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Older Adult Mental Health Occupational Therapy Service and the newly established multidisciplinary Enhanced Dementia Support Service for adults living with dementia who present with complex psychological needs or distressed behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessment and provide occupation‑focused treatment in a variety of settings.
* Support multi‑disciplinary formulation and collaborate with members of the Enhanced Dementia Support Service, Older Adult Mental Health Service and wider health and social care system.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement, service evaluation and audit.
* Receive line management and clinical supervision from the Enhanced Dementia Service Team Lead (Clinical Psychologist) and occupational therapy professional leadership from the Mental Health & Learning Disability Services Occupational Therapy Divisional Lead.
* Participate in regular supervision, support and personal development through annual appraisal and personal development plan.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience working with older adults and supporting people living with dementia.
* Proficiency in relevant standardised and non‑standardised occupational therapy assessments.
* Involvement in quality improvement and service development.
* Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
Working Conditions
* Primarily community‑based, including community‑based home visits. Main base within Glen O'Dee Hospital in Banchory; required to work across a variety of sites/clinical settings.
* UK driving licence and access to a car required.
* Flexible working, including evening and weekend work, may be required to meet service demands.
* As of 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week; part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so pay will not be affected.
* If the post operates within Aberdeen City Low Emission Zone, you will be responsible for all costs associated with entering.
