Position: Trainee Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/School Nurse, Band 6 / annex 21 Para 2 (ii)
NHS Tayside offers an excellent opportunity for a nurse to join our School Nurse Team. This part-time position involves working 30 hours within Tayside, accountable for delegated workload, and collaborating with children, young people, families, and multi-agency colleagues to address health needs based on the GIRFEC model.
Responsibilities
* Support children and young people, including those on the child protection register, care-experienced, or with mental health concerns.
* Work within multi-agency teams including education, social work, health, and police.
* Provide accessible, person-centred care, with knowledge of child protection and trauma support.
* Autonomously manage risks and support within the GIRFEC framework.
Qualifications and Progression
Applicants must be a current registered nurse at degree level and willing to undertake the Advanced Nursing Practice Education (School Nursing) program at Robert Gordon University via distance learning, supported by NHS Tayside.
Pay and Training
Pay is determined as a percentage of the qualified staff rate, based on training duration, with detailed scales provided. Trainees will start at a lower percentage and progress as training advances. Existing NHS employees moving into training roles will retain their current band and earnings until completion.
Additional Details
* Successful candidates will commence postgraduate diploma training at the earliest opportunity.
* Travel across Tayside and surrounding areas is essential.
* Core hours are 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, totaling 37 hours/week.
